The Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies (FIIT) STU was established with the vision of being a top-tier institution in the field of informatics and information technologies (IIT), recognized both domestically and internationally based on the results achieved in science, education, and cooperation with industry. Despite being a new faculty, STU has long-term experience in education and research in the field of IIT and has achieved a wide range of significant results. STU has an accredited field of study in Informatics at both the 1st and 2nd levels of study (Bachelor's and Master's), as well as several scientific disciplines in which doctoral studies are conducted in the IIT field. Informatics is the only field of study at STU that also holds international accreditation carried out by the internationally recognized professional organization IEE. Prior to the establishment of FIIT, this activity was provided by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at FEI STU. The staff of this department form the core personnel supporting the study programs for which the newly established faculty — FIIT — has obtained accreditation.
FIIT staff have practical experience in developing the three-level study system (Bachelor, Master, PhD), including its accreditation at an international level. They have fully applied the acquired knowledge to fulfilling the content of the presented study programs as well as the organization of the study itself. Likewise, they possess good experience and knowledge in creating curricula recommended by recognized international organizations.
The Faculty offers accredited study programs (in accordance with Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education Institutions) respecting the economic and social development of society. FIIT graduates will be able to succeed in both the domestic and international labor markets.
It also has 2313,"">study programs accredited by the British Engineering Council UK.
The organization of higher education at STU is based on the credit system. The credit system of study utilizes credit accumulation and transfer. It allows students to use credits to evaluate the workload associated with completing the units of a study program.
