The members of the Faculty's Scientific Board are eminent experts in the fields in which the Faculty carries out educational, research, development, artistic or other creative activities. Members of the Faculty Scientific Board shall be appointed and dismissed by the Dean with the approval of the Academic Senate of the Faculty. The dean shall be the chairman of the faculty's scientific board.
The Scientific Board of a faculty:
- discusses the long-range plan of the faculty developed in accordance with the long-range plan of the public university,
- evaluate at least once a year the level of the faculty in educational activities and in the field of science, technology or the arts,
- discuss the proposal for study programs to be implemented by the faculty; student representatives appointed by the student section of the academic senate of the faculty shall be invited to attend the deliberations of the faculty's scientific board on the proposal for study programs,
- approve other experts who have the right to sit for state examinations for study programs to be carried out at the faculty; approve supervisors for doctoral studies,
- discusses and submits to the scientific board of the public university the criteria for the habilitation of associate professors and the criteria for the appointment of professors,
- discusses the habilitation of associate professors and decides on their outcome,
- discusses and submits proposals for the appointment of professors to the scientific board of the public higher education institution,
- discusses and submits to the scientific board of the public higher education institution the general criteria for filling the posts of professors and associate professors at the faculty,
- discusses and submits to the scientific board of the public university the specific conditions for the selection procedure for the appointment of professors at the faculty,
- approve the Dean's proposals for the appointment of visiting associate professors,
- discusses and submits to the scientific board of the public university the Dean's proposals for filling the posts of visiting professors,
- approves the rules of procedure of the faculty's scientific board on the proposal of the chair of the faculty's scientific board,
- deliberate on issues submitted to it by the chair of the faculty's scientific board.
