admission to study

for the academic year 2022/23

Study programs

Informatics (in the field of informatics)

  • The program is internationally accredited by the IET, the British Engineering Council.
  • 3-year or 4-year study.
The 4-year study program was created to help students improve their knowledge of mathematics, as this is by far the most important subject in computer science. In essence, students repeat and finish their high school curriculum and begin to become acquainted with the first programming language. Freshmen in the 3-year study learn two programming languages, each in one semester. The second year of the 4-year study is then the same subject composition as the first year of the 3-year study (minus the programming language, which they have already taken over in the first year of the study).
  • STUDY IS IN SLOVAK LANGUAGE

Admission procedure

The admission procedure begins for the applicant by submitting an application for the relevant bachelor's study program.

The results of the applicants will be evaluated by the admissions committee - May 27, 2022.

The results of the admission procedure will be published in the Academic Information System (AIS) no later than one week after the decision of the admissions committee.

The decision on whether or not to accept the applicant, together with the justification, will be delivered to the applicant in writing to the contact address indicated in the application during the second half of June.

The admission procedure will end for the applicant by issuing a decision on the result of the admission procedure.

Evaluation of the admission procedure

Applicants are accepted on the basis of:

  • the results of the external part of the school - leaving examination, or
  • SCIO test results,
  • results of the entrance examination, or
  • diplomas from competitions,
  • foreign high school graduates are admitted on the basis of SCIO test results or results from the entrance examination, or diplomas from competitions, or on the basis of results from secondary school (equivalence of marks).

If more than one result is delivered, the best one is selected. Additional points can be obtained for competitions (competition evaluation - in Slovak). The final number of points that the candidate gets is equal to the sum of points for the best result and competition.

The faculty guarantees admission to applicants who meet the admission conditions.

The selection of candidates not covered by the guaranteed admission will be based on:

  • ranking based on scoring,
  • Demonstration of skills and prerequisites for the study of the chosen study program,
  • the number of applicants that the faculty plans to admit to study the relevant study program.

Entry exam

The faculty organizes an entrance exam for applicants as a free alternative to SCIO tests. You can find more information on this page (in Slovak).

Information for accommodation in a student dormitory

Due to the high number of people interested in providing dormitory accommodation and limited accommodation capacity, the school will compile a candidate's adviser based on their results in the admission procedure. If the applicant wants to increase his chances of obtaining accommodation, it is in his interest to obtain the highest possible number of points (external high school diploma + diploma, or SCIO test + diploma, or entrance exam + diploma).

More information on accommodation in student dormitories can be found on these websites www.fiit.stuba.sk/1685 (in Slovak) and www.stuba.sk/5461.
