David Minor is an expert voice in research data curation, with over two decades of experience advancing data management practices in academic and research institutions. As Director of the Research Data Curation Program at UC San Diego Library, he leads efforts to support researchers in managing, curating, and preserving data for long-term reuse. His work focuses on integrating data curation into institutional strategies, aligning with global standards, and promoting open science principles.
David’s experience includes designing campus-wide frameworks for research data services, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and driving innovation in data reuse and scholarly communications. He has led many international collaborations, especially with academic institutions around Europe. His international contributions include serving as a Fulbright Specialist in 2023, spending a month in Slovakia working with universities and libraries on open science and makerspace initiatives.
A frequent speaker, David holds a BA in Philosophy from Carleton College and an MA in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is passionate about advancing research ecosystems and ensuring data’s role in enabling future discoveries.
