Dr. M. Oskar van Deventer
(TNO, Delft, Netherlands)Dr. M. Oskar van Deventer is senior scientist on media networking. His focus is on the realization of international standards. He has been active contributor and editor of several ITU-T and ETSI standards. He has led the ETSI standards on CDN interconnection, and contributed to IETF, OIPF and HbbTV on media synchronisation. He is active in collaborative European research projects, like Rubens (network-integrated CDN) and HBB-Next (next-gen hybrid broadcast broadband television). He is leading a project that aim to achieve standardised CDN interconnection between Netherlands, Slovakia and other countries using novel HTTP-based adaptive-streaming technologies. He has won several international awards in the area of Mobile Gaming. He is (co)author of one book, more than 100 publications, over 50 patent applications and over 500 standardization contributions.
Dr. M. Oskar van Deventer will provide an overview of these media networking technologies from his personal perspective, which is international standardisation (ETSI, IETF,OIPF, HbbTV) and international collaboration (FP7, Eureka Celtic, EIT ICT Labs). This includes collaborations with the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STU). His presentation will conclude with technological challenges that require further work, and an invitation to students of STU to intership projects and graduate assignments at TNO in Delft.
